Dr. Lehman Benson III is the Vice President of Black Advancement and Engagement at the University of Arizona. In this role, he provides guidance and support to Black students, faculty, staff, and the wider community. He is committed to growing the University's capacity for Black advancement and engagement. He also serves as the Executive Office of the President's faculty liaison to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Beyond these duties, Dr. Benson collaborates with colleagues at the University of Arizona’s Athletics Department and the Arizona Healthcare Leadership Academy. He is a member of the University’s Inter-collegiate Athletic Committee and has conducted seminars on time management and personal brand management with the University of Arizona’s men’s basketball team.
Dr. Benson’s ongoing research examines the effect of stress, time constraints, risk assessment, and feedback on judgment and decision-making. He teaches courses in Personal Brand Management, Organizational Behavior, Bargaining and Negotiation, Leadership, and Human Resource Management. He has taught at the University of Lund (Sweden), the University of California (San Diego), and Duke University.
